Lainch of a program for licensing e-MusicID/MagicSync
TRANSTECHNOLOGY PROJECT of Nagase & Co., Ltd. will soon be launching a program to license the "embedded type Music ID  ie-MusicID j" and "MagicSync" technologies implemented in its new portable digital audio player "TRANSGEAR HMP-100" to other manufacturers that develop similar portable audio players and component audio systems. e-MusicID is a system that allows adding music information such as song and artist names to songs recorded via analog input channels, while MagicSync allows acquiring music information via mobile phone networks.

Licensed technologies
  • e-MusicID/CDDB
MusicID is an analog sound waveform recognition technology developed by the US company Gracenote. It boasts high recognition rates made possible by the highly advanced Sound Waveform Recognition technology. During the development of "TRANSGEAR HMP-100," TRANSTECHNOLOGY succeeded in embedding this technology in a portable audio player for the first time in the world - this ground-breaking new technology is known as e-MusicID (embedded MusicID). e-MusicID is able to search for and match specific analog information in the largest database, which covers up to 10 million songs from all over the world, and acquire music information such as the name, artist, album name and genre of each specific song.

Moreover, TRANSTECHNOLOGY offers to license "Gracenote CDDB" together with the aforementioned technologies. "Gracenote CDDB" allows reading digital data (TOC information) from CDs and displaying song names and so on. It is widely employed in car audio players and the number of users is increasing exponentially. It is possible to use the technologies differently according to the conditions under which the audio products are used, such as whether the music sources are CDs or MDs, or whether or not broadband access is available.

TRANSTECHNOLOGY has closed a formal supply contract with Gracenote, which entails providing reference design boards used when embedding e-MusicID/CDDB in hardware devices, SDK, embedding know-how and so forth in the future.

    * Currently supports platforms made by TeleChip

  • MagicSync
MagicSync is a proprietary music information acquisition system developed by TRANSTECHNOLOGY. It is the first system in the world that is able to match analog waveform data against the e-MusicID database using mobile phone networks. Together with the embedded e-MusicID software, it achieves a perfectly PC-free environment.

By providing these technologies together as a single system, it becomes possible to develop perfectly PC-free digital audio devices in short period of time. Moreover, since TRANSTECHNOLOGY handles payment of royalties and database usage fees to appropriate parties in a comprehensive manner, this program is highly advantageous in terms of both technologies and convenience.
